Bielby Hull Albem Joint Venture awarded contract for Ipswich Motorway Upgrade
Stage 1 of the $400 million Ipswich Motorway Upgrade is set to commence work in late 2017 with the Queensland Government announcing Brisbane based Bielby Hull Alben Joint Venture the contract. A start has been made on the detailed designs but will not begin works on site until later this year.
Both the State Government and the Australian Government are behind the project with investments of $200 million each.
The upgrade will see additional lanes going from 4 lanes to 6 lanes and higher bridges over Oxley Creek. Once completed the upgrade hopes to achieve reduced travel time and a safer journey for commuters. With an expected completion date not until 2020, those who frequent this stretch have a long road ahead.
